Protecting Your Right
To Compensation

First Stage:
Gathering Information

As attorneys for you, the damaged plaintiff, we will have to be able to prove that the other side is legally responsible for your damages and prove precisely what your damages are. When you are interviewed by us for the first time, we obtain as much general information as possible "Do not give written, recorded or oral statements to anyone." concerning the accident itself and the injuries sustained. Based on your interview, we make decisions as to what steps are necessary to establish the other side's responsibility for the accident. An investigation as to legal responsibility may be as simple as obtaining reports or may involve obtaining detailed interviews with any witnesses. Also, photographs and other records may be required to establish legal responsibility.

With regard to your damages, medical providers will be contacted and records copied. The proof of loss of earnings will require documentation through employer's bookkeeping records, tax returns, etc.

A List of Your Responsibilities;

We are representing you for the handling of your case. We recommend that you keep current with the following areas of responsibility so that we have the best possible information to utilize in representing you.

Diary: It is helpful if you will keep some sort of a written record of your daily activities. If you list the restriction that the injury has had on your daily activities. It will be helpful in painting an accurate picture of what it is you have gone through when we look back a year or more in the past.

Evidence: Be sure that you keep any physical objects such as shoes, clothing, etc. that you had on at the time of the accident. They may be necessary as evidence at trial.

Documents:
Please keep and send to us copies of the following:
a) Hospital bills
b) Doctor bills
c) Ambulance bills
d) Nursing bills
e) Prescription bills
f) Receipts for any expenses you have incurred as a result of the incident such as travel expenses to and from doctors, hospitals, extra household help or help with your business.

If we do not have written evidence of these expenses, it is extremely hard to receive compensation for you for these losses.

Before and After Witnesses: Please keep a list of any friends, fellow employees, neighbors or relatives who can testify about your activities before the accident and after the accident, and have personal knowledge as to how the accident has affected your ability to conduct your everyday life.

Tax Returns: Copies of tax returns are extremely helpful if not essential in establishing loss of earnings claims. Please locate copies of your tax returns and send copies to us.
