Protecting Your Right
To Compensation

Introduction

Thank you for retaining our law firm to represent you in your case. Our office has specialized in handling your type of case for many years. We will do our best to achieve the best possible result for you.

The following information is provided so that you can gain understanding of the various stages in the handling of a legal case. We hope that you will review this material at this time and will keep it for future reference as your case progresses.

Please understand that no two cases are exactly the same. We know that your case is important to you and we will pay particular attention to the specific facts and details which make your case unique. Unfortunately, it is not possible for us to predict exactly what will happen with your case, nor exactly when it will happen. Sometimes cases which we expected would be settled end up going to trial and sometimes cases we expected to go to trial are concluded by settlement at any number of the steps along the various stages of case handling.

Although it is true that approximately 90% of the cases settle at some point before trial, we prepare each case as if it were going to trial. In that way, we let the other side know that we are serious and intend to prosecute the case to the fullest extent of the law. We believe that this type of philosophy permits us to negotiate from a position of strength and that best results come from bargaining in a strong position. As the following text will advise you in detail, there are many stages and steps involved in the handling of a case from beginning until end. Usually, it takes approximately one year to 18 months to accomplish the work. However, due to the substantial congestion in the courts, many times these steps are accomplished over a longer time period since many cases have to wait up to five years in order to get a trial date. As a result, substantial time may pass between significant developments. Please be assured that we will keep you informed of all significant developments, particularly as regard settlement. This case is yours and you will be notified when settlement offers are received and counseled as to what we feel the responses should be.

Even if you do not hear from us for lengthy periods of time, you can be assured that your case is following its normal course of preparation. But, if you have a question, please do not hesitate to call or make an appointment to come in for a personal conference concerning any questions you may have. Also, should you become involved in any way in another accident, please notify us immediately as it may affect your present case. If you require assistance in other legal matters, please feel free to contact us. Most importantly, please keep us informed as to your most current address and telephone number as we may need to reach you on short notice.

Your confidence expressed by retaining us is very much appreciated and we look forward to being of service to you.
